The Showbox, which was built in 1939, is a classy nightspot adjacent to the Pike Place Market, right downtown, and loaded. It has this mysteriously bounceable dance floor, and this is a good thing. The remodelled club, a cavernous, red-velvetted, brassrailed venue presents local and national acts to hipsters who like their clubbing big, lush, antique, but still state of the art. The Showbox now hosts see and be seen club nights called "Electrolush" and "Hotbox" and the other specialty theme nights that are well attended. For fun on your way out, pick up a guilty pleasure ball park frank or a hot stadium pretzel from the guys who run the cart out front. Something to balance out the Showbox's notoriously strong drinks for yer walk back to base!
